Fall 2010 Submission Deadline

Yay! It's that time again--submission time! If you have any writing pieces or artwork you would like to submit for consideration into the fall 2010 journal, submit it to us by Friday, October 8 at midnight. Fill out our online submission form at this link: http://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/15218 or email us at lyceum.umd@gmail.com.

It's The First Day of School!

It's that time again...first day of classes. We have begun shamelessly stalking people in the parking lots for spots close enough to our classes. We wish you all the best. We will now be in the Lyceum office nearly every day during the week. Come by and say "hi!"

Summer Orientations

Today is the first summer orientation of the year. Lyceum, and all the other organizations on campus, will be setting up in Kochoff Hall today from 2:30 to 4:30 PM. Come visit us. We're going to be giving away free pens and lots of yummy candy. See how enticing we are? ;)

Hello all! I hope everyone is enjoying their (wet and cold summer). Lyceum is still hard at work, and if you are on campus for summer classes, I hope to see you!

Lyceum has a new Editor-in-Chief for the 2010/11 school year, Paige Hanson (that's me). We are in the process of hiring our new editorial board, and welcoming new members, and I will keep you updated as who will be doing what this year.

During the summer, we will be cleaning out and sprucing up the office, making new purchases, and getting the organization ready for another great year. This past school year we were able to purchase a mini fridge, a microwave, and get two new computers.



The mini fridge actually increases productivity, as we can now store vital nutrient replenishment right in the office. This means more time in the office planning great things for Lyceum. We also have purchased an electric kettle and an assortment of tea. If you fancy a cuppa, stop by the office and ask! I firmly believe a good cup of tea also increases productivity and is also just plain yummy.

Spring Break!

We hope everyone is having fun on their Spring Break.

During the break, some of the editors will be working away on the Frequently Asked Questions binder and the journal layout.

We'll keep you updated (maybe even with some pictures soon).

Mark Your Calendars!

We're in high gear, planning our Fall events. Here are some dates to keep in mind:

Lyceum Submission Deadline: Friday, October 16th at MIDNIGHT

You may either bring your pieces to the Lyceum office (2115 University Center) or submit on our website, http://lyceum.umd.umich.edu. The site is currently down for construction, but will be up shortly!

Created Green: A Sustainable Art Gala Wednesday, October 28th, from 2-7pm in Kochoff Hall B

Details concerning entry dates and rules for entering will follow.

Right to Write Wednesday, November 18th from 5-7pm, in the University Center

An event concerning censorship. Once more, details to follow!

Lyceum will also be participating in Welcome Week's Departmental Fair on Spetember 16th from 11am-2pm, and the Student Activities Office's celebration of UM-Dearborn's 50 years of excellence on September 23, from 11am-1pm on the UC stage. Cake and ice cream will be served!
